Evaporation Experiment


Equipment: Copper sulfate solution, 250mL Beaker, heatproof mat, evaporating basin, element. 

Method: 

  1. Set up element

  2. Add 100mL of hot water to the beaker and place it on the element.

  3. Add copper sulfate to the evaporating basin until it is quarter full.

  4. Carefully, place the evaporating basin on top of the beaker. 

  5. Turn on the element to 3

  6. Heat the solution until most of the solvent has been evaporated and crystals of solute are forming. 

  7. Turn off the element- be careful not to touch, as it will be hot for a long time.


Observations: What did you see, hear, etc when doing the experiment. The

water was boiling because of the heat.


Conclusion: Was your hypothesis correct? Yes


Discussion: What happened and why: Steam gently heats the botttom of the evaporating dish and the crystal of the salute begins to form.


Evaluation: Did you enjoy the experiment? Why? It was fun seeing those expirement because I learned something new.

Filtration Experiment

Today we did a Filtration experiment for our science. The teacher explained to us what to do with the experiment and she showed us the equipment that were gonna use for expirement. 

So we pour a 50ml of copper sulfate solution into a breaker and we add the same volume of sodium carbonate solution. A reaction will hapen, you should see a cloudy blue precitipate form. called copper carbonate.


Hypothesis

Solvent-Liquid used in solution does the dissolving

Solute-Thing dissolved into solution (solid)

Solution a mixture of two or substances.


Solubility-Ability to dissolved- can=soluble, Can't=insolube.

Filter-Separates particles based on size (doesn't liquids)

Filtrate-Liquid left after filtering.

Blue-Copper sulfate 

Clear-Sodium carbonate 

Aim: Separate a minute we have made using filtration.

Copper sulfate+sodium carbonate-copper carbonate+sodium sulfate.

Sustainability Project


Hi, today we're gonna talk about what has been doing for this whole hurumanu and what has been fun so far or what we didn't like about this hurumanu. so I found hurumanu 2 interesting because I like talking about earth problems. So I made a game that related to sustainability and its about pollution. So here's the game that I just made, this game is about pollution, I chose pollution because I think it could save peoples lives and it could save our earth. This game could inspire people to help our earth to be better, and I hope this game is a good influence for young people.  


Sustainability 

Sustainability is really interesting because I like hearing about earth problems and solving it in your own opinion or talk about what's the best way to fix that problem or what could we do to avoid it. For sustainability, We talked and learned about earth pollution because that's probably the common problem that is happening now, not just here but in other countries too. We also talked about environmental sustainability, social sustainability, economic sustainability, and sustainable sustainability, and also we made a slide about it. https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1-GjEyV0-

The only subject that I didn't like was maths because I never liked maths and its boring. So we worked on statistics and I didn't like it that much because maths well never be my favorite subject. Design is probably the best thing so far that we did in the whole hurumanu. So we use tinker cad to design anything we want to design. So I decided to design a house but I just didn't finish it. 

Sustainability is probably the best hurumanu I've had this year because it's really fun and interesting, learning about earth problems or earth resources it such a good impact for young people like me and I learned a lot about it. So this is what we did for the whole hurumanu and also don't forget to check my game, I hope you like it!

Film Study/Filming

Today we just finished editing our video for film study I hope you guys like it. 

What was your film about? It's about basketball, we chose basketball because it's a fun thing to do and we know that we could enjoy playing basketball while filming.

Something I learned when making my film?  I learned how to communicate with my group and probably telling them. what to do so it wouldn't be that hard for them.

Some film techniques I included were? Some film we used the low angle shot to make the vid interesting to the audience, and we used a panorama angle shot to make the background a little bit bigger and beautiful.

Something I found challenging was? The most difficult thing I found is when my group doesn't listen to me and when they mocking around, it annoys so much.

What I do differently next time? Be ready to be a leader to my group, I think I'm not a good leader because I don't normally talk that much.

Saving the planet

Environmental sustainability is responsible for interacting with the planet to maintain natural resources and avoid jeopardizing the ability for future generations to meet their needs.

A walk on the beach or a hike in the woods reminds us that our forests, coral reefs, and even our deserts act as examples of sustainable systems.

Introduction: The topic I chose is called Earth Environment, this topic is about people, the future, people's needs like, water, trees and it includes more such important things. So I'm gonna write an essay about the topic I chose. I'm going to describe them and tell them whatś the impact of or whatś the solution for this kind of topic.

Describe:The Earth Environment is just not about technology, it's about people and their needs or being green. Sustainability is about ability to meet the peoples needs. Earth environment includes important things such as water, trees, light, land, and air, it provides people's needs.

Impact: If we have enough resources that we need we have a high chance of having a better future. If we care about our environment we will have a better future. being responsible for our environment has a big impact on our earth, respect our place.

Solution: Implementing recycling habits into your daily life is one of the most effective ways to help lessen the landfill waste. Start using a reusable bag so we don't waste so many plastics every time we go to supermarkets. To save our earth one of the effective ways that we can do is save energy, water, reduce pollution, and slow down global warming.

Stop wasting things that we could still use, such as plastics, and we should start recycling plastics bags to lessen landfills. Nowadays some supermarkets use reusable shopping bags so we don't waste and pollute our community. This is one of the most effective ways to avoid pollution.

Conclusion: Saving the planet is a good thing for me because it could give us a better future and It has a huge impact on everyone, not just to people but to animals as well. Saving the planet could avoid human extinction and that's a good thing.

Hearts/Science

  • What have we been learning about?
For a few days, we've been learning about parts of a heart and we wanna know how hearts work. 
  • Why are we dissecting hearts?
So we can see the parts of a heart and so we could explore and explain the hearts better, and that we could make sure what are we learning about.

  • What are the parts of the heart? Did you see them? The right ventricle, left ventricle, right atrium, left atrium, aorta, vena cava, aortic valve, and pulmonary. I´ve seen most of them and its pretty cool because I´ve never seen a heart in real life. We cut it split open to see the parts of a heart and it looks weird because it was our first time.

  • Did you enjoy the dissection? why/why not?
I enjoyed dissecting a heart because it was my first time. 

This is the heart we dissected. So first we cut the side and the other side and we open it up. I saw the heartstring, valves, ventricle septum, and artery.

Film Study/Term 2

  • High angle- makes the character óther wybie´ look small, weak, and vulnerable. 
  • POV- Other mother- dominant&powerful
  • Medium shot- Gives us some idea of background but not full.
  • The audience feels - powerful, we are looking down on wybie through other mother POV.
  • Worried for wybie-he looks small, sad, innocent
  • First character in other world to suggest something is not right. 

  • Directors' purpose- make us feel sorry for wybie. 
         It makes the audience think that maybe the other mother isn't so nice-foreshadowing.

In the shot with the other wybie and the other mother, high angle shots are used effectively to show the theme ´looks can be the deceiving.´ This demonstrated to a high angle shot from the point of view of the other mother. She is looking down the front porch at a scared other wybie. This makes the audience feels sorry for wybie and makes the other mother seem powerful. The purpose of this scene was to make the audience think that maybe the other mother isn't so nice after all. Combined with the use of lighting, Wybie is in a warm light but surrounded by darkness the director has a creative atmosphere of caution-something that is not right. This reminds the viewer of a later scene where Coraline is looking up at the other mother in horror as she throws her through a magical portal into a locked room. this shows that kooks can be deceiving because the other mother wasn't nice like Coraline's first thought.

Linking themes to impact angles, movement, and shots.
Brainstorm:
  • High angle-It makes the character smaller. 
  • Angle shots/used-making the scene interesting by showing some of the backgrounds behind the character and it gives us an idea of what´s happening in that scene.

Coraline/Hur2

Theme/Idea-Something that links throughout the story.

Looks can be deceiving'
Things aren't always what they seem.

Example 1: The beldam/ The other mother 
- she starts off as good/kind but is revealed to be an evil soul-devouring metal spider demon. 
-Shows theme because the other mother changes gradually over time caroline&audience don't notice. 

-Important to the story because it helps the audience understand Caroline's choice when she realizes that having everything perfect won't make her happy. 

Example 2: Otherworld vs Real-world 
The other world Is a perfect web/trap to catch caroline, whereas the more world is boring but safe.
Shows theme because even though the other world seems better and every way, the real world is actually better/safer because it isn't a trap.

-Important to help the audience understand why Coraline goes back to the real world. 

Statement-In caroline, themes, and ideas are used effectively. 
Evidence-For instance, the theme 'looks can be deceiving' is shown through the character of the 'other mother. The other mother starts kind but is revealed o be a soul-devouring demon.
Audience- This makes the audience feel that we shouldn't trust people that seem perfect at first glance.
Director-This was done to make the audience feel weary or develop a sense of caution towards a new situation. 
Coinciding-what this is the use of colour to show the other mother' os becoming more evil. At the start, she is surrounded by arm colours that make us feel safe, but by the end, it is dark with neon green which her seem dangerous.

-Your link&Ths theme is also shown through the changes in the other world as it is revealed to be a spider web designed to catch Coraline.

P.E/Gym

Sport-Thieme Juggling Scarf Juggling Scarves buy at Sport-Thieme.com
In P.E we have been doing stacking, juggling, tennis table, and multi-sports. So first we did the juggling and tennis table, on juggling we used a scarf so at first, we grabbed 2 scarfs so It could be easy to juggle. By using one hand u have to juggle those two scarfs, so like throw 1 scarf then throw the other one and catch the scarf you throw first, once you've finished juggling those two scarfs you have to add one more scarf, so it's like a challenge for us, this time you have to use two arms for the 3 scarfs, so on that you must throw the 2 scarfs first then throw the other 1 and catch the scarfs that you just throw and just keep doing it.











When we finished doing juggling with the scarfs the next thing we did is a tennis table, we didn't do that much on the tennis table we were just playing and practicing how to hit the ball. The next thing that we did for P.E is stacking its really fun and we did a little bit of competition. First we grabbed the stacking and we'd practice them, once you've learned how to do the stacking, you have to go to Mr. Palmer and ask If you could do the timer thing for the stacking, So I beat their record and I tried so many times until I beat my record, so my record was 4.1.

Caroline

  • Opening Scene: 
  • Music- Sounds like a music box and It's a bit creepy, Starts quiet.

  • Perspective- other mother P.O.V- we can see from her, know it's her by the needle hands 

  • Use of Close up- Makes the audience focus on the dull, not on the creator.
  • Lightning/colour- Dark, green, a bit white, dim, faded, and it's a bit white.- It sets the mood/atmosphere that its old, abandoned, unappealing, and run down.
  • Setting-Pink-Palace-real world

Chocolate Chips cookies

Last Tuesday in home economics we baked a cookie and it was successful.

Ingredients:
Butter
eggs
brown/white sugar
vanilla essence
chocolate chip
flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp baking powder

Equipment:
Wooden spoon
spatula
Medium Bowl
Fork
Tray
Knife
Measuring spoon.

The first thing we did is we Preheat the oven to 350 degrees, 175 C.
Cream the butter together, white sugar, brown sugar until it gets smooth.
Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla. Bake for about 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until edges are nicely browned.

In the movie, there's a lot of different camera angles. I've seen close-up shot, a low angle shot, a high angle shot, a long shot, and a panorama shot. They used those angles so It could be more interesting to watch.

Wash all the dishes in the kitchen, pick up all the rubbish on the floor. and make sure that the floor is not wet so no one would get a slip and hit their head in the ground. Make sure there's no chair in the kitchen to save up space for the cooker. Make sure the knives are in the right place. 

Don't leave the kitchen when your cooking something. `

Athletics

Today in P.E we did running stuff and it was fun. So we did 1500 metres and I got 7.05 seconds which is good for me. It was hard for me to run 1500 metres even though I'm a athletics person, I think I need to practice more some running so the next time I run It would be more easier for me.

Social Media

Social media is been an addiction for teenagers, every teenagers in the world has a social media.
Social media is for family and friends like when your away with your family and friends you could talk to them by using social media. They use Instagram, Facebook and Messenger some other people use them to communicate with their love ones and Whanau, but nowadays some teenagers abuses the social media.

Some other people use them to bully someone in social media, it's basically called cyber bullying and that's how some other people abuses the social media. Social media become an addiction for other teenagers, once you got addicted it's hard to stop it. Social media become an addiction for me to and it's hard to stop it.

Social media is use for communicating by other people but it become addicted for them. Nowadays young people have a social media now and I know and it's really hard for them to control using Social medias. Social medias could change your life and it could change how you act at other people.

It's really sad that some other people is growing up using social medias and sometimes they don't have time for their families and friends because of social media's. Social media's could affect your life and other people's life. You could get bullied in social media and It could make you depress, many people already died because of cyber bullying and the most saddest thing is they died growing up with social media and they only had a short life. Millions of people are dying because of social media every year.

So today we did our P.E and we did some running. So I did 100 and 200 metres and the half of 1500 metres.

100 metres: 13 seconds
200 metres: 33 seconds
1500: So we did the half of it because we were all tired we only did 1 lap.

Today we did our sprint and long jump, so on sprint we ran 50 metres and the time I got is 7.39 which is good for me and on long jump  I got over 3 metres. We did some maths thing about our sprint so we did dividing so we can find out how many kilometres per hour can we ran and I got 24.35km/h.
